Eclecticoiffeur hair stylist Kelsy Osterman is keeping busy in NYC. She just posted images from behind-the-scenes at New York Fashion Week's Fall 2010 shows, which she styled for Cutler Salon. Shows she worked on included Mackage, Irina Shabayera (winner of Project Runway season six), Toni Maticevski, Mara Hoffman, Graeme Armour, and Vessel by Lois. So proud of this girl. RetroRama in review

Eclecticoiffeur were lead stylists for the annual RetroRama fashion show at the Minnesota History Center on May 21, and it turned out marvelously. The show was held under a tent on the grass as the sun was setting; it really couldn't have been any more magical. Here are some images from the show:

The show started off with a 1920s-era dress from Via's Vintage and a hat by Lula's Vintage Wear. I was inspired by the idea of sophisticated travel that became the norm in the '20s.

It was followed by Max Lohrbach's brilliant take on the 1920s luggage and aviator style with a two-piece look and hat. A great detail was the leather luggage strap sewn to the back of the jacket. The hand-beaded hat with leather trim was also quite amazing.

A 1930s-era dress and hat from Lula's worn with gloves from Via's. I was inspired by Bonnie & Clyde for this look.

This amazing dress, handbag and headpiece were created by Ivan Idland. He was inspired by flour sack dresses, surrealism, and the upper-class look of the 1930s, and basically combined the styles of the poor and rich in this piece. The deep scoop back of the dress, not pictured, was probably the best part about it. The dress, coupled with the surrealist handbag and headpiece, made for the most impressive look of the night.

This 1940s-era gaberdine dress and hat are from Lula. I was inspired by the military "Bugle Boy" styling of the '40s.

This gorgeous washed silk dress and hat were created by Abigail Caperton of Princess Warrior. She was inspired by women's uniforms of the 1940s.

This 1950s-era dress with matching jacket were a nod to the family-oriented, suburbia home look worn by many a housewife throughout the decade.

The all-over print dress and matching jacket, inspired by 1950s Davy Crockett illustrations and legends, were created by Calpurnia Peach. The amazing coonskin cap came from the Guthrie Theater's Costume Rentals shop.

I chose this 1960s-era dress and pillbox hat (all from Via's) because it seemed so Jackie O. By a happy mistake, the model Elmira bore a striking resemblence to Jackie O.

The 1960s-inspired look by Sarah Holm of Re-Evolution was an ingenius take on Jackie O, post JFK's assassination. She says it was inspired by the mix of red roses and blood on the car seat after JFK was shot. (There is a splatter-dyed bodice under the sheer overlay.)

Chicago-based style blog The Midwasteland noticed all the stylish peeps at our EC DJ dance night/Voltage CD Listening Party on April 15.

Highlights: Voltage CD Listening party – For those who couldn’t wait for fashion week to start, Club Jager hosted a CD listening party to play tracks from all the bands that would performing at the Voltage: Fashion Amplified show. Local designers, musicians and sartorial enthusiasts showed up to show their support and eager anticipation for Fashion Week’s headlining event.

If you missed out on Voltage or didn't snag your own copy of the Voltage Lookbook, here's a preview of it. It's full-sized, full-color, and gorgeous. We had this in the works for nine months and with the amazing work of Voltage art director Meghan McDonald Gale with contributions from Keith Eric Williams (design) and Nick Nguyen (sponsorship), they made it happen.

Eclecticoiffeur was recently profiled by Secrets of the City leading up to our stint as Lead Stylists for Voltage (tonight at First Avenue).

Secrets of the City sat down for a chat with talented local trio, Eclecticoiffeur, the lead stylists for tonight's Voltage: Fashion Amplified fashion show. Jahna Peloquin, fashion stylist and fashion writer (for Vita.mn, l'etoile magazine, AND once in awhile, Secrets of the City); Di Medlock, makeup artist; and Kelsy Osterman, hairstylist, are a comely and charming group whose work you've no doubt seen in numerous local mags and advertisements. Their involvement as lead styling team for Voltage has helped put a polish on the production and has spawned many-a collaborations within the local fashion scene.

Tonight's event at First Avenue showcases some of the best and brightest fashion designers our cities have to offer. Presented in true rock n' roll style, Voltage combines music and fashion; local bands are styled by designers, and a runway show is presented during each musical performance. ECLECTICOIFFEUR is busy planning for a number of spring fashion events, as well as updating our portfolio. Here's a preview of what's in the works for your favorite styling collective:

Feb. 28: Fashion Fight Night III at Uppercut Boxing Gym
Presented by METRO Magazine, the third annual event will feature six teams made up of a photographer, a hair stylist, a make-up artist, a fashion stylist, an assistant and a model that face off simultaneously in two rings. ECLECTICOIFFEUR has participated in the event every year with photographer Nic Marshall. Last year, we poured water onto our model. What antics do we have in store this year? Tickets are available in advance; visit METRO Magazine online for details.

April 9: Spring MNfashion Week '09 Preview
Open to press and sponsors only, this event will give a preview of the events to come during Spring MNfashion Week '09 (April 20-26). ECLECTICOIFFEUR will be styling local two-piece electro band Lookbook for a live set. Details to come at mnfashion.org.

Apr. 15: Voltage CD Listening Party at Transmission at Clubhouse Jager
ECLECTICOIFFEUR puts down their styling kits and hops into the DJ booth for our bi-annual DJ set at Jake Rudh's weekly dance night Transmission. Come celebrate the release of the Voltage CD and kick off Spring MNfashion Week '09 in style.

Apr. 21: Laura Fulk + mplsart.com runway show at the Lab Theater
ECLECTICOIFFEUR is honored to style this collaborative effort by fashion designer Laura Fulk and go-to arts calendar mplsart.com. Always the most theatrical element of Voltage every year since its inception, fashion designer Laura Fulk is breaking out on her own with her first solo show, an art-meets-fashion collaboration between Fulk and local artists.

Apr. 24: Voltage: Fashion Amplified 2009 at First Avenue
The annual fashion rock show is back for its fifth year at legendary rock club First Avenue, and ECLECTICOIFFEUR are returning as the show's Lead Stylists. Fashion designers include Max Lohrbach, Ivan Idland, Calpurnia Peach, Amanda Christine Designs, Maritza Ramirez, and more.

May 21: RetroRama at Minnesota History Center
Eclecticoiffeur return for the third installment of the annual RetroRama fashion event produced by the Minnesota Historical Society. The fashion show will feature locally-designed, retro-inspired looks by Max Lohrbach, Ivan Idland, Calpurnia Peach, and Sarah Holm, with each designer taking on one decade spanning the '20s to the '60s. There will also be a vintage boutique, cocktails from Town Talk, music from Night in the Box, and a retro DJ set from Transmission's Jake Rudh. The best part? The show will happen outdoors in a tent this year - just like a "real" fashion show!

New Year's with EC, Past + Present

New Year's is always a time of celebration and styling for EC. This year, we partied and worked Vita.mn's Spirit of '09 party at the Loft. We styled up some go-go dancers for Vita.mn and Jahna, also a writer for Vita.mn, did video interviews with the night's DJs (Hercules + Love Affair, Le Castle Vania) and band (Solid Gold).

Last year, we rang in the New Year at the Vita.mn-sponsored, Mark Mallman-headlined Varsity Theater bash. We just came upon this video montage of the event by Chuck Olsen on MNstories, a Minnesota video-sharing community, for which we styled a vintage-inspired lingerie fashion show. That's us onstage at the end having "the time of our lives."

We just completed work on a promotional shoot for the Rare Affections local designer dress collection for MNfashion. Eclecticoiffeur styled the cover story on holiday fashion for Vita.mn, published December 4, 2008, available on newstands through December 10 and at vita.mn. Jahna Peloquin, fashion stylist for Eclecticoiffeur, also wrote the corresponding story on budget fashion, "Holiday Fashion: Silver and Bold."
